Get Recognized For Your Design Expertise

Speaker: Thijs Kraan

Thijs is a content consultant for forward-thinking design leaders

Designers often fail to articulate and sell the value they provide to businesses. They get stuck in design jargon, seeing design as the holy grail.

Yes, design is valuable, but immature without an established common ground. Designers can't even agree on what design means – a leading factor in why designers struggle to stand out, build more valued expertise, and get opportunities.

Because of this, design is in a weak position.

If you want to be recognized for your design expertise. You need to be in a strong position and to yourself there, you need to clearly articulate your value. If you don't, you'll fail to get the opportunities you deserve.

More about your design speaker

Around 90% of organizations don't maximize design's full potential. The other 10% grow revenue and shareholder returns at nearly 2x the rate of industry peers. But most businesses fail to see the value because:

Designers fail to articulate where, how, and why design contributes to the overall business goals.

This lack of clarity results in layoffs, budget cuts, and lower ceilings.

That's why I started Value Positioner – to empower design leaders (like you) to establish your expertise. Together, we can strengthen design's position and articulate its value.

In the next 5 years, I'm on a mission to establish common ground in the vocabulary of designers. Arming designers with words, examples, and data to prove their value.
